HERD ANALYSIS
A herd analysis is typically conducted in the months of January through March. During a herd analysis, we’ll deploy a drone (or multiple drones for very large properties) and locate every deer. For every deer that is located, GPS coordinates are marked, and pictures are taken. With this information, we can provide a report with the following:

Yes, in Louisiana it is legal to utilize a drone to locate a dead deer.

According to LDWF, if we locate your deer still alive, we are not allowed to give you the GPS coordinates of the wounded animal. We suggest for cases like a gut shot deer (a mortal wound) just give it some time to expire. Now once we locate the animal, it will either be dead, or very close. This way we can monitor it until it dies and there's no chance of bumping that deer and never seeing him again.

We use the DJI M30T, which not only has a high-resolution thermal camera, it also has a 200x zoom camera. Because of this camera system, we can easily zoom in and show you the wound of the deer that you shot. This can help put your mind at ease and determine weather the deer will live and be back to normal in a few weeks, or eventually die from the injury.
-
Absolutely. Our drones are equipped with a 9,000 lumen spotlight. This allows for 100% positive confirmation.

No one owns the airspace above their property, therefore if we locate your deer on a neighboring property, it is 100% legal. This is a huge benefit compared to traditional tracking methods or using a dog because we'll know the exact GPS coordinates of the deer. This allows you to contact the owner of said neighboring property and go to the exact location of your deer, rather than stomping all through the woods.

A very overcast or even light rainy day are the best conditions for thermal imaging. When scheduling a herd analysis, we will work with you and come up with a day that works best with your schedule and the right weather conditions.
