Southern Drone Recovery is more than a Louisiana drone service provider. We are passionate about the outdoors.
With years of experience in both government and private sector drone operations, combined with our lifestyle of hunting here in south Louisiana, we have gained a type of knowledge about whitetail deer behavior that is unparallel.
We can assist you with more than just deer recovery. Give us a call if you want to take your hunting or herd management to the next level.
DEER RECOVERY
You’ve put in the hard work, time, and money. Then, as it happens to all of us, you make a less-than-perfect shot, and the buck you’ve worked so hard for runs off, leaving little to no blood trail.
If you ever find yourself in this common situation, give Southern Drone Recovery a call and feel confident about finding your deer. By utilizing the absolute best thermal drones in the industry, we’re confident we can locate your deer, sometimes within just minutes.
Benefits Using Our Drones
DJI M30T, which has a 200x zoom camera equipped with a 9,000 lumen spotlight.
All weather capabilities to search day or night, rain or shine.
Equipped with a laser range finder for pinpoint accuracy.
No human scent left in the woods and very minimal disturbance compared to traditional tracking methods.
No risk of bumping your deer compared to traditional tracking methods.
HERD ANALYSIS
A herd analysis is typically conducted January through March. During a herd analysis, we’ll deploy a drone (or multiple drones for very large properties) and locate all wildlife. For every deer that is located, GPS coordinates are marked and color coded for each sex.
After completion, the collected data is then exported, creating a tailored project featuring satellite imagery of your property with all marked wildlife, and high-resolution photos of each antlered deer.
If your passionate about managing your hunting property throughout the year, give us a call for a thorough analysis and get actual real-time data to make the best management decisions for your needs.

The cost for a herd analysis starts at $300 for the first 100 acres. For properties larger than 100 acres, additional pricing ranges from $1.00 to $2.00 per acre. The final rate depends on factors such as terrain complexity, habitat type, and the level of detail requested in your analysis.
To provide an accurate quote tailored to your specific needs, send us a message with the location of the property, the terrain and habitat type, and how many acres. We will work with you to ensure the analysis meets your management goals while delivering the most value.

A very overcast or even light rainy day are the best conditions for thermal imaging. When scheduling a herd analysis, we will work with you and come up with a day that works best with your schedule and the right weather conditions.
-
Yes, in Louisiana it is legal to utilize a drone to locate a dead deer.
-
According to LDWF, if we locate your deer still alive, we are not allowed to give you the GPS coordinates of the wounded animal. We suggest for cases like a gut shot deer (a mortal wound) just give it some time to expire. Now once we locate the animal, it will either be dead, or very close. This way we can monitor it until it dies and there's no chance of bumping that deer and never seeing him again.

We use the DJI M30T, which not only has a high-resolution thermal camera, it also has a 200x zoom camera. Because of this camera system, we can easily zoom in and show you the wound of the deer that you shot. This can help put your mind at ease and determine weather the deer will live and be back to normal in a few weeks, or eventually die from the injury.
-
Absolutely. Our drones are equipped with a 9,000 lumen spotlight. This allows for 100% positive confirmation.
